The type of paper used for various printing products is expressed in weight(pounds) or thickness(points). The paper used for writing/printing (letterheads and such stationery) is generally between 20 to 70 lb. and is generally called text stock. Anything heavier than this is considered the card stock, i.e. the paper used for business cards, postcards, greeting cards, etc. The touch and feel of paper can be amazingly different based on its characteristics.

We offer high quality paper options in three finishes – gloss (shiny), uncoated (matte) and silk (slight sheen). Choosing coated papers like gloss and silk reflect the light evenly so they are suitable for almost all types of printing jobs. Uncoated matte papers are often desirable for creative affects where less shine is preferred a present a softer looking appearance. Uncoated may also be preferred if you intend to write on the finished printed item.

UV coatings, or ultraviolet cured coatings, are a topcoat surface treatment that is performed after the job is printed which protects the underlying printing from excessive scratching during mailing or rough handling. An item printed that includes a UV coating applied to it can appear quite different based on the desired look from very shiny (gloss), to a flattened (dull) finish or even a unique softer tactile feel (soft touch) to the fingers.

13oz Scrim vinyl is the most common substrate for printing low cost outdoor banners with a short, temporary lifespan requirement. Scrim vinyl is a polyethylene substrate, reinforced with polyester cording. This internal cording is what gives it strength and durability to withstand damaging winds and weather conditions.

18oz Blockout vinyl is an upgrade over scrim vinyl in appearance and lifespan and is a great product for advertising banners, billboards, displays and tradeshow exhibits. Blockout vinyl does not allow the sun or any light to come through, which means it’s opaque.

Our printable 16mil magnetic vinyl material is made from a thin layer of plastic, embedded with millions of magnetized steel particles that act like tiny magnets. All magnets hold best when mounted directly on steel like a car or truck. Beware as many modern vehicles are being made of aluminum and these magnets will not adhere.

PETG (Polyethylene terephthalate glycol) is a thermoplastic polyester that provides significant chemical resistance, durability, and excellent formability for manufacturing. In general, PETG is a FDA compliant food-grade plastic that's commonly used for food containers, bottles for liquid beverages and is commonly used across the medical field.
